About the scenery
Clark International Airport, known as Diosdado Macapagal International Airport from 2003 to 2014, covers portions of the cities of Angeles and Mabalacat within the Clark Freeport Zone in the province of Pampanga, Philippines. It is located 80 kilometres northwest of Manila.
Clark was established by the Americans in 1902 as Fort Stotsenburg; its eastern portion became an airfield in 1917, renamed Clark Air Field in 1919, and later the Clark Air Base. The base was handed back to the Philippine government in November 1991.
Today the Clark Civil Aviation Complex covers about 2,367 hectares, with a 3,200-metre runway and its taxiways, an aircraft parking apron, a passenger terminal building and related facilities.
